09/07/03 Topher: Does anyone know where on God's green Earth to find the steering column bearings for a 67 for less than a big toe? A guy told me today that he found them in opposite parts of the states-1 for 22.50, and the other for 34.50. I really don't see 57 dollars worth of bearings. |

09/11/03 Curt: As I remember when I was doing my search, 67-69 columns are the same design column. I doubt that 66 and earlier would use the same bearing and in 1970 they redesigned the column again and those columns don't even use a lower bearing in them unless you have a three speed manual shift on the column car. The bearing is a chinzey stamped steel race assembly. A homemade bushing would have a hard time controlling the shaft endplay. My advice, pay the 35 bucks and consider yourself lucky to find one. |
